Poems by Lady 98 Years!
Alora M. Knight
Alora M. Knight
Her name is Alora M. Knight. There is wonderful content in her Poems, such wonderful Wisdom from her Creator.
I will refer to her as a Modern Day Patriarch - All of us have something we can learn from her, I'm sure.
She has a wonderful way with words and is blessed for her years!
To My Treasured Friend
Though there is gold up in the mountains,
Lovely pearls deep in the sea,
Those treasures do not mean as much
As your friendship means to me.
While diamonds may be beautiful,
And worth a lot of money,
They cannot give a warm embrace
Or share jokes we think are funny.
I know it's true some people
Will collect much priceless art,
Yet I have never seen a picture
That showed me a loving heart.
So I don't need to spend a fortune
To have what means the most to me.
Knowing that I have had your friendship
Will be a treasured memory.

Happy Birthday, Daughter
Many are the joys in life.
I'm blessed with quite a few.
Still, most of all I'm grateful
To have a daughter just like you.
I remember well when you were born,
The joy that filled my heart.
When I first held you in my arms,
I loved you from the start.
It was always such a pleasure
To see your precious life unfold.
Learning new things every day
Brought happiness untold.
Though no one knows the future,
What each one has in store,
I know whatever happens
I couldn't love you more.
So on this special day of yours,
Know the love that's there for you.
Not just today, but every day,
Will last a lifetime through.

Seeds Of Wisdom
A gardener, if he's very wise,
When it is planting season,
Will always use the best of seeds.
It only stands to reason.
Because he knows when harvest comes
He'll reap what he has sown.
If he's been careful, he'll be proud
Of all that he has grown.
It makes me realize that words
Are very much like seeds.
People use all kinds of them
That seem to fit their needs.
But, unlike seeds, the words we speak
Don't stay down in the ground.
More likely in a fertile mind
Is where they will be abound.
Where they are nourished by the thoughts
Of those who seek to find
A way they can express themselves.
The way of all mankind.
Especially fertile is the mind
Of every little one,
So we should be so careful
Before much harm is done.
A child will mimic what he hears
And not give it a thought.
He doesn't even realize
Just what he has been taught.
Still, when he's grown, his attitude,
And what he will believe
Will come from words that he has heard
And what his mind received.

Keeping A Cheerful Attitude In Public
We are all a part of the scenery, you know,
No matter where you may live.
There's someone who will feel your presence,
Absorb the attitude that you might give.
You'll never know when you've influenced
How someone else will feel.
It my not have been your purpose,
Still, the effect can be quite real.
A cheerful word might be what's needed
To brighten up another's day.
It may be a total stranger
Who chanced to pass along your way.
How often have your spirits plunged
When a sour response was given?
It's time for each and everyone
In this world in which we live in,
To be aware, to do our part
To make this world a better place.
So when you leave your house each day,
Please keep a smile upon your face.
It can even make a difference
How nicely you are dressed.
You'll be a bright spot on the scene
If you will look your best.

The Beauty Of The Sky
The Beauty Of The Sky
I wonder if we realize
The gifts that we've been given,
The endless flow of beauty
Bestowed on us by Heaven.
A rainbow arching across the skies
Shares its radiant hues,
While clouds that tumble here and there
Portray fantastic views.
Nighttime's filled with countless stars,
Each shares a twinkling light
While the moon rotates in glory
As it travels throughout the night.
Those who welcome early dawn
See beauty unsurpassed.
The evening sun surrenders day,
Its glowing lights amassed.
It's there for everyone to share,
To benefit thereby.
A beauty that is freely given
To those who look up at the sky.

His Presence
His Presence
A friend of mine once asked me
Just how could I believe
In someone I never saw,
Nor spoken words received.
I thought, perhaps, I should explain
Just why I have no doubt
That it was God's creativeness
That brought this world about.
I only have to look around
To know that He is there.
I see and feel and hear Him.
That's why I'm so aware.
I see Him in the raindrops
That nourish trees and flowers.
I see Him in the rainbows
That sometimes follow showers.
I see Him in a mother's love
When looking at her child.
So thankful that this miracle
Is pure and undefiled.
I see Him in the wrinkled face
That's seen so many years,
Knowing it was faith in Him
That overcame all fears.
I hear Him when a meadowlark
Trills out its joyful song.
I hear Him when the thunder
Comes forth so loud and strong.
I see the beauty of Him
In the butterflies on wing.
The feathers of the peacock
Are the colors He can bring.
I feel Him when a playful breeze
Blows gently through my hair.
When the sun shines warmly on my face,
I know that He is there.
His strength shows in the mountains
And the ever pounding seas.
A kitten's purred affection
Shows how gentle love can be.
It's true I have no pictures
To hang upon my wall.
I do not need a portrait,
His presence to recall.
For those who wish to listen,
It is played throughout the land.
The symphony of life itself,
Directed by His hand.

I Love A Lonely Winding Road
I Love A Lonely Winding Road
I love a lonely winding road
That takes me where I cannot see
Until each softly rounded hill
Reveals its landscaped mystery.
Where nature's stage creates the plot,
What ever the scene may be.
I love the crocus call in spring,
The first to wake from winter's sleep.
Translucent bits of ivory joy,
So patient under snow banks deep,
'Til they can lift each star like face
And proudly nature's rhythm keep.
I love the fiery autumn hues,
Too harsh to bear in gentle spring
But welcomed by the strident wind
That makes the mighty pine tree sing,
Freeing the crimson leaves that dance
Like bright birds, high on wing.
I love the wonders of this world,
The secrets nature guards so well
From those who have no time to spend,
Who will not lift the ocean's shell
And listen to the murmured tale
That each one has to tell.

On The Wings Of A Song
On The Wings Of A Song
Once in a while, if you are feeling blue,
When troubles seem to keep coming along,
If you will take the time to listen to music
It can lift your spirits on the wings of a song.
You don't have to be in a concert hall,
For nature provides its own symphonies.
There are no discords in the murmuring stream,
Or the wind as it gently hums through the trees.
Who has not heard the frogs' cheerful concert
When the nighttime shadows draw near?
If you will take the time to quietly listen,
The evening serenade of crickets you'll hear.
There's a rhythm to the lapping waves on the shore.
In the sky, every bird has its own melody.
Even the mightiest humpback whale
Sings its love songs down deep in the sea.
It may not change the problems that you have.
There are times when things will go wrong.
Still, it can help bring peace to your soul
When you lift your heart on the wings of a song...
